Gemma Bovery by Posy Simmonds

Earnestly, this could be completed in an hour but I busied myself with household endeavours. This marks my second experience with Posy Simmonds and I feel elation. What lovely drawings and a satisfying narrative. It tells of real life in a delectable way. Nothing crass or tawdry.

I yearn to read more from Posy Simmonds!!

Love That Bunch by Aline Kominsky-Crumb

My review: 5 out of 5 stars

I am delighted that she ended this book with colour!! I love her candour but why so many black and white drawings? It gives relief that someone sees the truth about themselves but simultaneously disheartens that someone could find so much dissatisfaction. Aline Kominsky-Crumb would be celebrated if she contributed more. I get the impression her husband receives the lion's share of the praise. Everyone knows what matters to them.

So joyous I read this book!

I'll have to read Sophie Crumb. Her artwork appears meticulous.

Merci beaucoup!!

Seven Letters from Paris: a memoir by Samantha Vérant

my rating: 3 out of 5 stars

This book ends sweet. The journey grueled. So many mishaps! Jean-Luc and his family ought to be commended for receiving Samantha with open hearts after so long a time. His kids had lived through a glacial stepmother and the passing of their mother but they warmed up to Samantha quickly.

I am pleased I read this memoir.

The Blue Castle by Lucy Maud Montgomery

my rating: 4 out of 5 stars

A novel of splendidly florid prose. This book has boosted my optimism. A singleton lifestyle I live... and it encourages me to read of a woman who surprises everyone with marital bliss.

I look forward to a glorious life.
