Have you ever heard of George Lamming?

I had saved a novel called The Emigrants by George Lamming on my Amazon Wish List some years ago. I still haven't gotten around to reading it. Thankfully, I just learned that my public library has it in circulation. He was born in Barbados on June 8, 1927. He has served as a visiting professor at the University of Texas at Austin, the University of Pennsylvania and Brown University. He's still alive as of this writing, having reached the age of 88.
